“I thought it was just a tiny toy… until the museum told me it was thousands of years old. 😳🏺”

I was only 7 years old when I accidentally stole a REAL ancient Egyptian artifact from a museum… and took it home.

I was on a school trip when our class visited an Ancient Egypt exhibit.

The museum staff let us pass some old relics around.

Then I saw it.

A tiny blue-green figurine of a goddess with a hippo head.

I thought it was fascinating.

Without even thinking, I slipped it into my pocket.

I took it home and played with it, completely unaware of what I had actually done.

But the next day, everything changed.

The museum was looking for the missing figurine because it wasn’t a replica.

It was a genuine ancient Egyptian artifact.

Suddenly, the school held urgent assemblies.

Letters were sent home.

Teachers questioned students.

And I sat there, terrified, knowing exactly where the missing artifact was.

That afternoon, I rushed home and grabbed the figurine from my bedroom.

I hid it inside my backpack.

I was too scared to tell anyone.

But when my mother saw me crying, she asked what was wrong.

I finally confessed.

She immediately took me back to the museum.

The moment the curator saw the figurine, his face changed.

He carefully picked it up and examined it.

Then he looked at me.

“Do you know what this is?”

I shook my head.

He smiled.

“It’s thousands of years old.”

I burst into tears and apologized.

The curator crouched down beside me.

“You made a mistake,” he said. “But you did the right thing by bringing it back.”

Years later, I learned exactly what I had taken.

It was a small figure of Taweret, the ancient Egyptian goddess associated with protection.

The museum had displayed it for decades.

And somehow, a seven-year-old kid had walked out with it in his pocket.

I still remember what the curator told me that day:

“You didn’t know its value when you took it. What matters is that you learned its value before it was too late.”

I never forgot those words.

And to this day, whenever I visit a museum, I always stop when I see an Ancient Egypt exhibit.

Because somewhere behind the glass is a tiny blue-green goddess who once spent a night sitting on a seven-year-old boy’s bedroom floor.

And somehow…

she became the most unforgettable thing I ever brought home.
