The Escape<\/b> I slapped a hand over my mouth and ducked behind the door frame, my heart hammering against my ribs. “What was that?” the girl asked, her voice sharp. “Just that stupid cat,” the boyfriend replied, dismissing it. “Anyway, like I was saying. She transferred the $20,000 for the ‘house down payment’ this morning. Once it clears tomorrow, we transfer it to your account, and we are gone.”<\/p>\n
My blood ran cold. He wasn’t just cheating; he was robbing her. My friend, Sarah, had been saving for years. She thought they were buying a condo together.<\/p>\n

He left with his tail between his legs, carrying his clothes in a garbage bag while her brother watched him like a hawk. The “random chick” ran out before him, refusing to even look at him.
