Parents. Brother. Aunt.<\/p>\n
Even a cousin I had never met.<\/p>\n
I froze for a second.<\/p>\n
\u201cOh, I hope you don\u2019t mind!\u201d she said brightly. \u201cThey were in town and really wanted to meet you.\u201d<\/p>\n
I forced a smile.<\/p>\n

Just slid it toward me like it was expected.<\/p>\n

I looked at her.<\/p>\n

All of them watching.<\/p>\n
Waiting.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo,\u201d I said calmly.<\/p>\n
Silence dropped over the table.<\/p>\n
Her smile vanished.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat do you mean no?\u201d she snapped.<\/p>\n
\u201cI mean\u2026 I\u2019m not paying for all of this,\u201d I replied.<\/p>\n
Her father frowned.<\/p>\n

I leaned back.<\/p>\n
\u201cI came here for dinner with her. Not to fund a family banquet.\u201d<\/p>\n
